Ganbatte I & II - ガンバッテ!一 & 二

As someone whose work is so heavily inspired by Japanese culture, the recent earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disasters in Japan have affected me deeply. Watching these events unfold from such a distance and feeling unable to help has also been frustrating. I felt compelled to try and contribute in however small a way I could, and so these two drawings were created to express my sentiments.

Both are available online in my shop. The proceeds from the sale of these pieces will be donated to Give2Asia, via their Artists Help Japan partnership.

A digital version of this drawing, pictured below, was created for the Love Project, a collaborative effort by Naoko Shimojo of DankeSchoen, featured on their blog here (in Japanese). Naoko tells us that the purpose of the project is to "show [the victims] that we are thinking of them, and praying for them."
